Midway through the MLH Fellowship

Over the last six weeks, I’ve been an MLH Production Engineering Fellow, learning about topics like Linux, containerization, and testing, all while getting excellent mentorship from actual production engineers at Meta. I’ve wanted to learn more about infrastructure and systems engineering for a while now, so it has been an amazing experience learning all these topics through the valuable learning content and the various projects.

As part of the fellowship, I’ve deployed a Flask portfolio site to a CentOS-based VPS hosted on DigitalOcean, connecting it to a MySQL database to store posts and containerizing it using Docker. In addition, I’ve written unit tests for it and added Nginx as a reverse proxy to handle SSL termination.
